Map Size Matters (Update #1)
Apoc.py Week #1 Update:
- World size expanded from 30x30 to 1000x1000
- Player now spawns in middle of map, instead of top left corner
- Map rendered based on player radius, rather than rendering the entire map each turn
- 5,000 settlements spawn per map
- 7,000 water tiles spawn per map
Are There Still Bugs?
Many! The next update will fix how the passage of time is measured, which will also fix bugs in war between towns.
What's Next?A lot! This week's update encourages exploration, but is "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle", making it pointless for players to really travel and explore far away areas. To remedy this, next week's update will expand the map to include more tile types, such as forests which increase hunting rates and rare tiles that drop powerful weapons. There are currently only settlements/towns, water, baren land, and player claimed lands in this week's update. Beyond this, the previously mentioned fix for time/aging will be done in the next update.
That's all for now! Much more to come!
